A to Z Poetry: Rondelet Poems

A rondelet  poem is a French poem with a single septet with two rhymes and one refrain following the rhyme scheme AbAabbA. The refrain is written in tetra-syllabic or dimeter and the other lines are twice as long - octasyllabic or tetrameter.

Mermaids this way!
Follow me and I'll show you where
Mermaids this way!
Beneath the calm waves of the bay
Beautiful maidens comb their hair
Chatting away without a care
Mermaids this way!
